The Medical Assistance Transportation Program gets you where you need to go.



        Medical Assistance consumers  can get help with transportation services that are needed to get to and from medical assistance providers. 

     Some examples for medical providers are:

psychologists

drug and alcohol treatment clinics

mental health outpatient clinics

medical equipment suppliers

The MATP is funded by the Pennsylvania Department of Public Welfare.  In Fulton County, MATP is run by the Fulton County Partnership, Inc..  Transportation is contractor provided.

Eligibility:  (Back to Top)

To be eligible for Medical Assistance transportation you must:

  1. Have a current active ACCESS card

  2. Be a permanent or temporary resident of Fulton County

  3. Need transportation to get a covered medical service from a provider who accepts the MA card.

That includes appointments with your

doctor

bullet

dentist

bullet

psychologist or psychiatrist

bullet

drug and alcohol treatment clinics

bullet

hospital for tests

bullet

to obtain prescriptions and medical equipment

You cannot use MATP services for emergency ambulance trips, nor for non-medical reasons such as for grocery shopping or for social activities.  You also cannot use the MATP to obtain medical care that is not covered by Medical Assistance.

To get MATP services do the Following:  (Back to Top)

Call the Fulton County Partnership, Inc. and tell them you need transportation services.

If you are eligible, the MATP will help you complete a form (The electronic version can be found above.), which you must sign and send back.  On the form you need to:

Give your active ACCESS card number

bullet

Give information on your transportation needs for example:

bullet

If you use a wheelchair or walker

bullet

If you have any other conditions that keep you from riding a bus or van with other people

bullet

If you are registering for your child who is under age 18, a parent or guardian may accompany the child to their appointments at no cost to you

bullet

If you need to have someone go with you to your appointment

bullet

If you are not able to get to and from a vehicle at the curb and need door-to-door transportation

After you have registered, you will be told how to arrange for a ride to your medical providers.  Generally, you will have to give a minimum of twenty four hours to schedule a ride.  For full details, see our policies and procedures.

Urgent Care:  (Back to Top)

If you need transportation for an urgent care appointment (that is, an appointment that your provider arranged within 24 hours of your contacting him or her), you or your provider’s office should contact us as quickly as possible after the appointment is set up to arrange a ride for that day or the next day.

Escort Policy (Back to Top)

You can bring someone with you as an escort at no cost to you in the following situations:

 if you are under age 18 you can be escorted by a parent or other guardian/relative

bullet

if you cannot travel independently or if you need any assistance due to age, illness physical or mental disability.

bullet

if you need assistance getting to and from the MATP vehicle, or getting in or out of the vehicle, etc. [indicate here if this must be verified by a physician]

bullet

if you do not speak English, you can bring someone with you to interpret.

Mileage Reimbursement:  (Back to Top)

If you have a car, or you know someone else who has a car and he/she can take you to your appointment, you can get mileage reimbursement from us to help pay for the costs of the trip. 

bullet

 If you want to claim reimbursement for a trip, you will need to have your medical provider verify in writing that you were at the appointment.

bullet

We will send you a form to fill out and tell us how far you traveled. 

bullet

We will reimburse you at the rate of 20 cents per mile. 

bullet

We will also reimburse you for your actual parking and tolls if you send us receipts showing how much you paid.  (Keep copies of the receipts for your records.)

bullet

You can turn in your reimbursement request right after a trip or you can turn it in at the end of the month.

bullet

We will reimburse you within two weeks of receiving your request.
